Ahmed Elpannann, M.I.T., Ph.D. candidate

To give back to the community, Ahmed has been active on different fronts. He has been president and board member on multiple organizations.


Biography

At the age of 25, after earning a Master in Information Technology from Nottingham University - UK, Ahmed had joined one of the most reputed Egyptian technology company and became among the youngest project manager in the industry. After moving to Canada, Mr. Elpannann worked as a Software Engineer for a couple of years, and quickly noticed the training gap among young IT professionals. He started therefore a Technology training institution. In the meantime, he performed career counselling, skills development training and IT training with Emploi-Quebec.

In 2014, his PhD papers were selected, and he pursued his passion to complete studies in the field of Semantic Web.

To give back to the community, Ahmed has been active on different fronts. he is;

- Founder & board member of Citizens’ Rights Movement (a movement that defends the rights of marginalized groups and individuals);

- Volunteer, organizer and volunteer recruitment officer in several Canadian associations since 2006;

- Lead volunteer and progressive community activist in Montreal and Canada since 2006, advocating against racism and discrimination (including the campaign against Bill 21);

- President of Egyptian Canadian Coalition for Democracy;

- Board member – Canadian Muslim Forum (2008-2013);

- President of Egyptian Canadian Home Organization (2011 – 2015);

- Candidate for councilor in Quebec municipal elections 2021.
